Client
Capital is a fast-growing trading platform, with offices in Europe, the UK, the Middle East and Australia. The company offers intuitive technology solutions, in-depth training and dedicated support for its clients.
Problem
Capital's offices follow the modern standard of interior design - predominantly glass partitions that create acoustic challenges. The main issues were:
- Enhanced echo and sound reflection that degrade the quality of videoconferencing calls.
- Increased level of noise in conference rooms, which makes communication difficult and leads to participants unconsciously raising their voices.
- Lack of confidentiality - sound spreads easily outside the halls, creating a risk to sensitive information.
Problem Specifics
During the inspection, it was found that the sound was not only passing through the glass windows, but also through the aluminium profiles on the facade of the building. This is because they are hollow and function as an acoustic conductor, creating a funnel-like effect. This was particularly critical in the case of the director's office, where sound was propagating into the open office spaces. The wall stops at an aluminium window profile, which is hollow and has reduced sound insulation. about 60% of the sound "leaks" through it. It has a sound index of about 26dB and is about 2 times lower than the wall.
Solution
After analyzing the client's problems and budget parameters, we proposed acoustic treatment of the conference rooms and part of the open spaces. The solution included:
- Installation of specialized MDF profiles on the aluminum profiles of the window frames to stop resonance and sound transmission.
- acoustic PET panel or rubber gaskets
- Installation of acoustic panels on the walls and ceiling to reduce echo and improve the sound environment in the halls.
- Replacement of the existing raster ceiling with one with acoustic properties, further reducing sound reflections.
Execution
After presentation of 3D visualization and discussion with the client were selected:
- Round acoustic panels in green and yellow.
- MDF solutions for acoustic insulation of the aluminium profiles of the suspended facade.
- Acoustic panels for the ceilings.
After final approval, we drew up a detailed offer and went into production. Within 10 working days we produced 130 acoustic panels. Installation was done at a time convenient for the customer without disrupting the operational work of the company. The entire installation process took three working days.
Materials used
- Dedicated MDF boards for insulating the aluminium profiles of the suspended facade
- Special Acoustic Pet Wool
- Acoustic damasks
